Special Vaccination Session at STGSS on 26 March (Saturday)

In the afternoon on 26 March, the Sha Tin Branch of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), together with the Sha Tin District Office and various groups in the district, jointly held a special event for students and parents to vaccinate against COVID-19 (Sinovac), with preparations for just one week. More than 200 registrations were received and more than 160 schoolchildren were eventually vaccinated. The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, JP, and the Director of the New Territories Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (LOCPG), Mr Lei Gai-ji, arrived in succession to cheer for the schoolchildren and volunteers.

As of 26 March, the vaccination rate of schoolchildren aged 3 to 11 who have received their first dose of the vaccine was 59.2%. In response to the government’s appeal to increase the vaccination rate of schoolchildren, the Sha Tin Branch of the DAB, the Sha Tin Community Anti-epidemic Link, the Sha Tin District Office, the Sha Tin District Kindergarten Principals Association, the Primary Principals Association, the Secondary Principals Association and the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations jointly organised this special vaccination session in the hope of letting more schoolchildren and their parents receive vaccine protection.

During the event, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, JP, arrived at the scene to talk with the vaccinated students and their parents, to learn about their thoughts on vaccination and the resumption of classes, and to support the on-site medical staff and volunteer teams.

Mr Lei Gai-ji, the Director of the New Territories Work Department (LOCPG), also learned about the vaccination programme for the students and their parents, and expressed his appreciation to the various groups that jointly organised the event. He also said that Central Government is very concerned about the epidemic situation in Hong Kong and will fully support the HKSAR Government’s anti-epidemic work. He also appealed to the parents to arrange vaccinations for their young children as soon as possible to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.

The Chairman of DAB Sha Tin Branch, CHUK Hing-toi thanked our principal Ms LAM Yuet-wah, for providing and preparing the vaccination site, and taking care of the needs of the students so that they can be vaccinated in our school, a comfortable and safe environment. He also thanked the District Officer of the Sha Tin District Office, Ms Carol Or Kar-lok, Hong Kong Delegate to the National People’s Congress and Member of the Legislative Council, Mr Brave Chan Yung, Member of the National Committee of CPPCC, Mr Thomas Pang Cheung-wai, Members of the Legislative Council, Ms Elizabeth Quat, Ms Lillian Kwok Ling-lai and Mr Stanley Li Sai-wing, and Chairman of the Sha Tin Community Anti-Coronavirus Link, Mr Tang Hoi-wing, for their active support and participation to make the event a great success, and called on everyone to continue to work together to increase the vaccination rate of schoolchildren to 90% by the end of April.

新冠(科興)疫苗接種學童及家長專場

民建聯沙田支部聯同沙田民政處及區內多個團體於3月26日下午在沙田官立中學,共同舉辦新冠(科興)疫苗接種學童及家長專場。是次專場的籌備時間只有短短一個星期,已收到200多人報名,當天為160多名學童接種疫苗。公務員事務局局長聶德權及中聯辦新界工作部部長李薊貽先後到場為學童及義工打氣。

截至3月26日,本港已接種首劑疫苗的3至11歲學童接種率為59.2%。為響應政府呼籲,提高學童疫苗接種率,民建聯沙田支部以及沙田社區抗疫連線、沙田民政處、沙田區幼稚園校長會、小學校長會、中學校長會及家長教師會聯會,共同舉辦這次疫苗接種學童及家長專場,希望讓更多學生得到疫苗保護。

活動期間,公務員事務局聶德權局長到達現場,與接種學生與家長傾談,了解接種疫苗的過程及家長與學生對復課安排的看法,並為現場醫護及義工團隊打氣。

中聯辦新界工作部李薊貽部長也向在場學生及家長了解新冠疫苗接種情況,對聯合舉辦活動的各個團體表示讚賞,他也表示中央非常關心香港疫情,一定全力支持特區政府的防疫抗疫工作。他也呼籲各位家長盡快為年幼子女安排接種疫苗,以減低他們染疫的風險。

民建聯沙田支部主席祝慶台感謝林月華校長提供及準備疫苗接種場地,悉心照顧學童需要,令他們在舒適和安全的環境下接種疫苗。他同時感謝沙田民政事務處柯家樂專員、港區全國人大代表陳勇立法會議員與全國政協委員彭長緯先生、立法會葛珮帆議員、郭玲麗議員、李世榮議員及沙田社區抗疫連線召集人鄧開榮主席等到場參與,並對是次活動的積極支持,令活動可以順利舉行。祝主席並呼籲大家共同繼續努力,爭取在4月底前將學童新冠疫苗接種率提升至9成。
