Thanks to the concerted efforts of the whole team, Vincent, Zachary and Abby were poised for a battle of wits in contest 1 of the 13th Inter-Government Secondary School English Debating Competition on the 9th of March. With well-crafted arguments and powerful rebuttals, the STGSS debaters skillfully proved their case. In the meantime, the opposing side demonstrated the prowess of articulating their viewpoint, leaving us with valuable insights to consider. The debate concluded with the opposing team securing the upper hand. Even so, Abby’s exceptional eloquence earned her the coveted Best Speaker Award. The whole team celebrated her achievement, recognising it as a symbol of their collective triumph. They were also proud of their perseverance and diligence throughout the intensive preparation for the debate, embodying the motto of ‘In triumph, remain humble; in defeat, stand tall’. The STGSS debating team will rise again next year to take on challenges in this debate competition.
