S3 Mainland Exchange Tour: Guangzhou, the Birthplace of the Maritime Silk Road

Jointly organised by the Chinese Language and Chinese History Departments, the study tour to Guangzhou, the Birthplace of the Maritime Silk Road, took place on January 22–23, 2026 for Secondary 3 students. The study tour aimed to provide diverse learning experiences, deepen students’ understanding of Mainland China’s history, culture, local customs, and cultural conservation, and enhance their sense of national identity.

The study tour offered a rich learning experience, with students actively engaged under the guidance of teachers and tour guides. Prior to departure, a pre-trip briefing was held to explain the learning objectives, safety guidelines, and the importance of national security. Students were assigned to groups corresponding to six designated themes, requiring them to conduct research prior to the trip, collect data during the journey, and submit a final report within three weeks of completion, culminating in a presentation during a form level assembly. Through this rewarding experience, students are expected to grow into outstanding citizens, well-prepared for their senior secondary education.
